My dog is a whole pure breed lab. He isn't fix as i am going to breed him down the line. He pees a lot but drinks water a lot as well. Not over the amount but does have a nice amount of water. The temp has been going up and down a lot we came from Florida, but we now live in Chicago. was wondering if the weather changes are affecting him at all. As to the peeing a lot.He pees a lot more when people come in and out of the house as well but he can go all night long till the am and doesn't have to go out till the am. could it be from the weather and him not being fixed? Thanks a lot for any advise you can give me
My dog does not like to drink water very much. I need some suggestions to get her to drink more. She will eat ice cubes that I put in the water. I thought it might get her to drink the water too but it does not.
Annie is a small Border Collie who came from rescue. The people in rescue thought she was about one year of age but my vet believes she is about three years of age based on the condition of her teeth.
She seems to be in excellent health and eats extremely well and urinates okay. She has never been interested in drinking water even on hot days. I used to add water to her food to make sure she gets enough water but I stopped doing it after a while. She drinks a little from time to time but does not seem comfortable and usually chokes or gags a little when she does drink some. She eats a homemade diet of meat and grains and vegetables and vitamins and supplements. The only other thing to mention is that she usually only has one bowel movement a day and the stool is pretty small although it looks nice and firm and full of bulk. She will pick ice cubes out of the water and eat them but does not drink much water even though I encourage her to do so. Someone suggested a pet water fountain but they are pretty expensive and I don't know if that is the answer either. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

I have a nine-year old hunting dog whose coat has become harsh in recent years and whose tail has lost hair in patches. Otherwise, he seems pretty healthy and energetic. I feed him quality food, but it seems like he needs more oil or fat in his diet. Diagnosis please?
i have a dashound/beagle mix 5 yrs.old, she hasn't gotten out of bed in 2 days, she is urinating and drinking water she ate a little something last night but when i take her out to pee she's not walking good and hardly moving. She is a very active dog and is a house dog who has no energy she feels warm and her nose is very dry, what may be the problem.
We picked up a stray mixed-breed dog a few days ago. We took her to the vet yesterday to get her checked up and make sure she was okay. She was given prednisone for flea allergies and we were told she would pee a lot, but in the two days we've had her she's only peed twice. Is there something wrong with her?
hi..my cat hasnt been using his litter box lately,,and tonight he peed in a garbage bag, and it had blood mixed with his urin..im worried. thanks
I have a 4 month old Jack-A-Bee named Tootsie. Last night, she got out of bed. She got into the kitchen and ate some leftover tacos (meat, sauce, cheese, Doritos). When I got home from work today she had vomited a lot, which I expected she would since she has never had table scraps. I cleaned her up and took her out where she refused to have a bowel movement (she has yet to do this since this morning and usually has 5-6 a day). She normally pees small amounts about every 1-2 hours. She just squatted on the floor and peed A LOT, I would say 300-400ml. Then as I was cleaning this up, she did the same thing with the same amount of urine (this was within 10 minutes). She always drinks a lot of water and eats small, frequent meals throughout the day. She is drinking about the same amount, but eating a little less than normal for her. She has had her first round of shots, and is supposed to get the 2nd round Saturday. Should I seek medical attention for her?
Our 14 year old Miniture Schnauzer has been drinking alot of water (more then normal). And he can not hold his pee. This does not happen all the time but it has been happening more frequently. We go to let him outside and before he can get to the door he has peed. Or we can be in the kitchen and turn around & he has peed. And there is alot of pee. We have been to our vet and they have done blood and urine tests for cancer, diebities, theroid and other things. And everything turned out good. Last Sunday we started him on Proin but it does not seem like it has helped yet. We need some help and so does he.
my dog is an 8-year old westie, and has been a fairly healthy one before this past week. lately, he's been extremely lethargic, not eating or drinking, and he's peed in the house (something he's NEVER EVER done before), just wondering what you may think is wrong?
i have a 9 year old female lab. for the past week she hasnt been eating well at all. she is drinking ALOT of water and she is very lethargic. she also is spotting when she lays down. it is a pinkish color.and she is licking herself alot. i think she may be in heat, but usually it is red in color.she has never "leaked" when she lays down like she has been. she seems to have a loss in energy and she is coughing. .not alot ..but frequent enough for concern. i did get her to eat some boiled chicken and rice.when she has went into heat in the past it hasnt quite been like this? any suggestions?
My 9 month old lab-pit mix as been really lethargic the past 3 weeks. I am also concerned because he has very little interest in his food, and drinks a ton of water. He also urinates a lot due to all the water he drinks. I haven't taken him to the vet yet because I thought he may just be adjusting to the new house we moved into 3 weeks ago, but I think he should be comfortable with the house by now. I looked up his symptoms and found that his symptoms are consistent with diabetes. I am just wondering what could possibly be causing him to be acting so strange.
my pet has been acting fine and drinking and eating well . then today he wont snuggle, or be bothered with me, he seems to want to be alone and doesnt wan to be bothered or snuggle,
I am leaving for vaction in a day and am concerned.
he usually is bothersom by meowing and begging for food alot now acting quite the opposite
I have an almost 8 year old blue heller, she had a seizure last night. This is the second one that she has had in the past few months, I have been reading on line about how sometimes it is from a vitamin/mineral dificiency, or something in the dog food. What do you think?
My 7 year old box terrier has started to pee loads inside and outside the house and it smells strong whats wrong with her?
My 3 year old dog is peeing a lot more at night. In the last week i have had to change his pee pad everyday. He never used the bathroom in the house.
My dog is a full blooded australian shepherd. He is having trouble right now with peeing alot. He has always been normal with his peeing but lately he has been going alot more than usuall. I have noticed that his pee is usually yellow and has a strong oder and he has been that way since he was a puppy but lately he has been drinking a whole lot more and his pee is completely clear and has no oder. I don't think he has an infection but he has been needing to go a whole lot more. He is starting to pee in the house cause he can't hold it and when he does go its a very long pee. What do you think might be his problem?
I have a 6 month old mix breed, male, part Beagel, part Besset Hound. My daughter brought him home from a flea market and he was infested with fleas and tape worms. We took him to the vet & got his shots and treatment for fleas and worms. He has tremendous amount of energy, gained amble weight and is flea and worm free. He eats well but the problem is he is not interested in water at all. I have to baby him to get him to drink and when he does drink he gags and coughs. Does not have this problem when he eats. Seems to urinate fine and has two healthy bowel movements per day. I'm concerned about the problems when he drinks water and he chokes every time he drinks. What could be the problem(s)? Please advise.

My 8yo boxer is on prednisone and she is drinking an excessive amount of water and she been having several accidents in the house. Is there anything i can give her so she isn't thirsty so much. She is on the steriod for another 3 weeks.
Our cat is 14 years old and always been a fussy eater, the pastt couple of weeks we ahve seen her eating all of her food and wanting more, but we dont feed her any more than she should have. However this last week we decided to try her on purina dry food mixed in with thewet pouches we usually give her to coax her onto heating more nutrients, this has been almost successful until 2 days ago she started going off her food. Yesterday she didnt eat alot at all, and this morning we woke up to find that she was sick with fur in in and a her faeces which was harder than usual. I found her trying to defecate but she was straining, and now she has gone very lethargic not moving, andurinated in her own bed that she has never done before. We are worriedbecause she has been ill before but not this bad. What could you suggest that may be the problem? Please help.
My 6 year olf cat Mandy has been peeing and drinking a lot more since we brought an 8 year old dog into the house a few months ago. She seems depressed and lethargic but is still eating and having bowel movements normally. The dog and its owner have sinced moved (about a week ago) but her mood and urinating/drinking is still increased. I had blood work and urinalysis done about 3 weeks ago but all were negative. I sent in another urine sample today to my vet to check again. Results will be back in a few days. The vet thinks this is all behavioral. What is your opinion?
My dog is not drinking water, the urine is very clear, he look healthy. Do I might concern?
My dog is a 3 year old dachshund and she is usually active and loves to play but yesterday she started drinking lots of water and not eating she is peeing everywhere and last night she woke me up every hour to go outside but that is not normal and today she slept in my room all day which is also not normal usually she has to be on me at all times but it seems like she just wants to be left alone i dont know whats going on with her she is not acting normal please help.
My dog has started drinking more often, urinating more often, and has a new onset of wetting the bed. I was curious to see if you may be able to give me some insight as to what the problem might be. My dog is approx. 8 years old with no new food changes, changes in location, etc.
I have a 15 yr.old Bichon who is peeing around the house even though I am at home and let her our often. It seems as though it is a behavioral problem, like spite, because she has been tested for everything and she's normal. What can we do about this? It's ruining our relationship with her. We feel we may have spoiled her and now it's coming back to haunt us!
Hello: Our 5-yr old female bichon has just completed 8 days of meds prescribed by the vet (sucralfate, famotidine, metronidazole, and clavamox). After 4 days, the vet took her off clavamox due to apparent nausea and periodic vomiting. Now she's passing several light blood droplets in her stool, lacking interest in solid food, occasionally taking a drink of water, and acting nervous and irritable. The vomiting has mostly subsided other than perhaps once every day or two. What can all this mean? The original "diagnosis" from our vet was either an ulcer or possibly pancreatitis. Thank you.
i have a puppy that is 5 mos and he drinks alot and pee alot. he is a german sheperd. why would he be doing that
I recently took my cat to the vet for a urinary track infection. She recovered and was fine for a few weeks. She now has some of the similar signs (minus the blood in her urine). She is acting very lethargic. She isn't eating much but continues to drink an abnormal amount of water for a cat (has always done this). She lost a lot of weight when she was sick the first time and has gained some of it back but not all of it. Would you recommend a blood test to see if she possibly has diabetes? Do you think it could be something worse?
I have a 7 year old female boxer who was over-bred before I rescued a couple of years ago. She has always been a pretty lazy dog which I just attributed to her being glad to be in doors finally instead of in a kennel outside but she recently began losing weight and I noticed she was almost as small as my 45 lb dog when previously she was 60lbs and I became alarmed. I took her to the vet and was told she has hookworms. I thought the medicine I gave her for fleas covered that and I was sadly wrong. I gave her the medicine as directed and Monday was her last treatment of dewormer. She still won't eat and I dont know what to do. She is so thin you can see her ribs and bones sticking out. There are other symptoms that she has always had that now make me wonder if something else is wrong. She has the strongest smelling urine I have ever smelled and her breath smells very similar to the odor her urine leaves. It smells like rancid fish. I asked the vet and they said it was probably diet related and it was just the hookworms making her sick. They only did a fecal exam. I feel like I have let her down and if I had done more she wouldn't be so sick. I don't want her to die is there anything the vet is missing? How can I get her to eat? Every so often she might eat a little bit but I have noticed yellow bile on the carpet. What can I do?
I have a 12 year old Beagle. About a year and a half ago she was diagnosed with Cushings Diease. She has an enlarged liver and her enzymes are high. Recently she was bleeding from anal area. Now we are told she has tumor in anal sac. Not cancerous. While she was there for that visit they heard a heart murmur. She has never had one before. She drinks so much and is tired often. She doesn't seem to be in pain. She has skin tags everywhere. Now she coughs and gags. She brings up clear phlegm which is sticky. Idk what to do. I can't think of the thought of putting her down. Please help
my 4 month old toy poodle eats way less than it says he should a day and drinks barely anything he breathes very quickly and his heart rates very fast, he sleeps all day and night, he eats grass all the time though and has gotten sick once.
I have a female English Springer Spaniel. She is almost 7 years old. I have noticed her drinking a lot of water lately, more than usual. Now yesterday, she had two accidents peeing in the house. Could this be an UTI? Does that explain the excessive drinking or is it something else?
My mom has a Miniature Schnauzer who will soon be turning 9. The last few weeks he has been drinking A LOT of water. Going through 4-6 bowls a day, where normally he would go through 2 tops [including through the night]. Now, in the last week or so he's started peeing inside at night. Twice in my room now, and a third time at a friend's how my mom took him too. My boyfriend and I moved back about two months ago after having been gone for a year and a half but I don't think it has anything to do with that since this only started recently. He hasn't been acting any differently aside from these two behaviors. The excess drinking and now peeing inside at night occasionally.
Our 5 year old miniature schnauzer was not feeling well last week. He had some raw carrots that he immediately threw up. He's had carrots before with no problems. For 2 to three days after he was still throwing up a few times a day, along with diarrhea. He has since stopped vomiting and has normal bowel movements but has begun drinking excessively and has begun urinating in the house. (We rescued him when he was 8 months old and was completely trained and has never urinated in the house before) I will be contacting our vet tomorrow but was hoping for some advice as to what we should do in the meantime. Thank you!
i've had a 2 year old lab-pit mix for about 6 months. she was abused by her last owner but is now treated very well and has adjusted for the most part. she has never had an accident in the house since we've had her but all of a sudden, she has stopped eating her food and peed in the house twice today. the second time was right in front of me and she usually alerts me when she needs to go. we were outside, and she peed 4 times in 2 hours and i found it strange. any thoughts?
Hi. I have a 9 yr old female cat. She's a rescue kitty and we've never had any problems with her before now. In August of 2010, she started having problems going to the bathroom. She knew where her box was, but refuse to enter it (box is cleaned every morning). Then she developed a sore by her anus, which was leaking. We took care of it, and it healed. However, in late March of 2011, the sore came back and she started peeing on stuff (chairs, bed, us). So, we took her to the vet to be put down, but decided to ask for a second opinion. The vet said she had anal sac problems, where they were backing up onto the skin and gave her shot. He said she would be doing better in few weeks. She's not. Now, she's not eating or drinking (unless I'm giving her the food or coaching her to drink), and she won't even go near the kitty boxes (still being cleaned every morning). She went from weighing 14lbs in April (when we took her to the vet) to being nothing but skin and bones now. I'm the only one who can pick her up, but its like she does't even know who I am anymore. I've tried everything I can think of to do. I don't scold her when she does it, because I don't think she's realizing what she's doing. And I keep finding her in the shower...
My dog is a 4 year old Bichon (believe to be purebred). He has been drinking about a gallon of water a day and peeing once or twice during the night. We have had blood work done and urinalysis and nothing comes back out of the ordinary. He has also been less active and seems to be more warn out when we get back from a walk. We just had him tested fro Cushings and it came back negative. We have spent thousands of dollars on tests and we aren't seeming to get anywhere. He doesn't have diabetes. The one vet advised doing a scan (can't remember what it is called) which is going to cost around $1200. He weighs about 16kg, the vet says maybe 2 kg overweight. Yet we feed him the right amount of food and only a treat or two during the day. The other night he was outside and started yelping and then standing with his legs spread in the kitchen. We took him to the vet but they didn't really offer any answers as to why he would have been doing that. Does anything seem to pop out or can you offer any advise.
Thank you so much!
My 7 yr old pug/russel just recently started peeing on my bed and is drinking lots moore water than normal. Any advise?
