Hi
I'm about to get a new dog I am getting from someone, in other words this was a rehoming situation and not an adoption from a shelter. I am looking for advice on how to make this rehoming process simple. Me and the dog's current owner aren't sure how to make this process as easy and stress free as possible for the doggy. I have been told to have the dog spend a few days with me but spend the nights at her original home and I have been told to do it in one day to reduce confusion about where she will be living, and many other things. I'm just not sure what to do. What is the easiest way to make the transition from the original owner's home to my home???
Here is some information about the little puppy if it helps:
She is a 1 1/2 year old female deer chihuahua, extremely loving and sweet. She is just the friendliest happiest dog ever, she loves people and other animals. She has been with her original owner since she was about 6 weeks old. She is an absolute joy to be around and just the funniest little dog ever. Always happy and willing to love and give millions of kisses
Thanks for your help

I have just adopted a terrier which is very frightened of cars, small dogs, and I think women. He seems to be more at ease with men. I am making him do things he doesn't want to(like ride in cars) and talking to him all along Is this the best way to get him over his fright?
I found a western banded gecko in the floor at work and it's really small. Probably no more than 1.25 inches in length. My sons want to keep him as a pet. I don't want to sacrifice killing him just so we can keep him. Is he too small to keep as a pet? Will he be OK if we release him? Which would be best? What do they eat? How frequently? Can I get the food at Petsmart?
I have three cats, all adult cats. I have been finding cat urine spots on the carpet.I keep their litter box clean. They are all indoor cats. Is there a way to stop this. And is there a way to eliminate the smell.
I have adopted a one year old cat a week ago and she sleeps under the bed at night but early in the morning (one o'clock) she jumps on the bed and starts meowing.
It's ok for her to be on the bed if she were quiet!
She ain't misbehaven other wise and she has recovered from her URI.
I gave her some cat toys to play with and even tried to play with her with her toys but all she likes to do is sleep and smooch.
What kind of scratching post should I give her?
I bought a scratching pad but she ignores that but thankfully she hasn't scratched on the furniture or carpet or anywhere else!
In regards of cat food she is eating dry food but should I also feed her canned food as well?
Thank you.
Once your puppy has had all of her shots, how long after can you take it outside? We have a three month old chihuahua who just finished her last set of shots last week.
Hi :) I have a chawawa shes 1 year old, and an female german shepard, we belive shes 6-8 months. When we tried introducing them, they tried attacking eachother. What can we do?
i have a 3 year old female jack russle/ italian greyhound mix. we just got a 7 week old male pit bull and brought him into the home. the female is deffinetly scared of the male and often drools and foams at the mouth. she will not go near him at all. i understand the foaming and drooling is most likely a stress and fear symptom so im not worried about that. is there any way i can get her to open up to him or is this a lost cause?
I am returning to ask your help for our Pug, Molly.
This sweet black Pug has had two bouts this summer of contact dermititis which causes her great discomfort as well as severe sensitivity to grass; (one in June and the other one a few days ago)......she won't go ON it, near it, much less USE it for bathroom purposes. She will hold it and sometime when we aren't watching her, she'll go into the kitchen and relieve herself, or if she's really "full" when we are walking our other Pug, she will "let go"....but it's a chore to get her to do it.
I have found the oatmeal/aloe bath and tee-tree oil/aloe/purified water "hot spot" spray has worked well for the itching and discomfort, but the paws and going outside??
We got some bag balm (supposedly works like liquid nails) to help the sensitivity, but nope...it doesn't work.
What advice can you offer to get her to go back ON the grass/pine straw....and use the bathroom like she can and does when these "spells" aren't bothering her?
Hi,
I just wanted to know. What can we do to stop shedding or reduce it?
How do I get my cats to stop eating and digging in my plants? I tried spritzing them with a spray bottle but it hasn't worked.
I just moved to a new apartment and my little 4 month old pit-mix is crying again like she did when we were at the old place. She did eventually stop there but started again. Is there anything I can do to help make the move earier on her too?
Thanks
Dear Doc~
A local lizard decided that the inside of my house was the best place for him with all this cold weather. I don't have the heart to put him back outside and so I bought a litter terrarium, 3 crickets and some mealworms for him two days ago. He ate the crickets and has some water; he seems to be ok in his little house. We placed him next to our heater in the bedroom, which is an area that gets some good light from the windows. But other than this, I've no idea what to do with him or how often to feed, etc. Any suggestions are helpful! Thank you much!
Can i use pinesol to clean my floors if i have cats?
Hello Dr. Spohn, my husband and I took our two pitbull puppies to you a couple of weeks ago. You gave them some shots and heartworm preventative. They are the ones with the cropped ears. Anyways, they both have had a tinge of diarrhea. The male has had a little bit of blood in his. I am wondering if they ate something they shouldn't have since it has been so windy and garbage has been blowing in the yard? We actually found a clothing tag in the boys poop. They are still very active. We have not changed their food or anything. My husband was wondering if there is anything we could do for them at home or if it is serious enough to be looked at by you.
